Media Release - 2nd March 2006Paul Huddlestone, Jersey's General Team Manager, has now arrived at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games Village and is busy making all the necessary preparations for the arrival of Team Jersey on the morning of Sunday 5th March 2006. He has reported back to officials in Jersey that the weather is pleasantly warm and the temperatures are expected to reach 30 degrees by the weekend. This will come as a welcome change from the present weather conditions in Jersey for our competitors and will hopefully help them to produce their best performances in the seven sports represented by Team Jersey. Although a number of the team members are already competing in pre-Games events in the Southern Hemisphere and a few others are currently en route to Australia, the largest group, a party of 46 competitors, officials and supporters, will be leaving Jersey Airport at 11.30 a.m. on Friday for Gatwick and then flying with Emirate Airlines to Melbourne via Dubai. The party is due to arrive at Melbourne International Airport at 6.30 a.m. on Sunday where they will be met by Paul Huddlestone and taken to the Games Village where the competitors can then commence their final build-up for the start of the Games programme with the Opening Ceremony on Wednesday 15th March. This will be televised locally at 9.00 a.m.
