OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF NEW SPONSORSHIP AGREEMENT FOR JERSEY COMMONWEALTH GAMES TEAM

Alan Cross, Secretary General for the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey, is pleased to announce the signing of a new five figure sponsorship agreement with local company, Sanne Group. Sanne Group is now the lead sponsor for the Jersey Commonwealth Games Team in their preparations for the 19th Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi in October 2010.

The partnership between the two organisations was launched at the New Gilson Badminton Hall during the evening of Wednesday 4th February 2009. To mark the occasion, Steve Watson, President of the Jersey Badminton Association hosted a coaching session providing free tuition for members of staff from the local Sanne Group office under the guidance of a number of Jersey’s top badminton players, many of whom have already competed at Commonwealth Games events. Coaching staff included Ian and Kerry Coombs-Goodfellow, Mark Constable, Clive Dunford, Gavin Carter and Kim Ashton.

Simon Young, Managing Director of Sanne Group, says, “We are delighted to be supporting the Jersey Commonwealth Games team in the run up to the 2010 Games. Representing Jersey at the very highest level is a unique opportunity and we are pleased to be able to contribute to the team’s preparation and attendance in Delhi. We look forward to a close relationship with the Association over the next two years and are grateful for their support in offering Sanne Group staff the opportunity to benefit from elite coaching in a range of sporting disciplines.”

It is our avowed intention to afford the opportunity, for any suitably qualified Jersey sportsperson, to compete at the pinnacle of elite international sport in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi 2010. Furthermore, as support for the development of sportsmen and women in their chosen field is fundamental to our Association we are delighted to be able to encourage Sanne Group employees by providing them with opportunities to further their personal enjoyment and sporting aspirations in partnership with our elite athletes."
