Media Release -08th August 2008The Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey has just announced the team of 12 to participate in the 3rd Commonwealth Youth Games due to take place in Pune, near Mumbai, India from 12th to 18th October 2008. This is an event which is expected to attract entries from all 71 Commonwealth Territories from around the World and will involve over 1200 competitors aged 18 and under. Team Jersey includes 4 competitors from each of the 3 sports of athletics, swimming and tennis. The swimming team includes Tom Gallichan (15), JJ Gallichan (17), Emma Glendening (15) and Charlotte Manning (14). The Coach/Team Manager is Nathan Jegou. The tennis team includes Scott Clayton (14), Charlie Cohen (16), Katie Gouyette (17) and Kirsten Mc Arthur (16). The Coach/Team Manager is Andrew Evans. The Team will be led by General Team Manager, Paul Huddlestone, and he will be supported by Dr. Carl Clinton as the Medical Officer and Helen Richardson as the Team Physiotherapist. The official party will be attending a ‘Bon Voyage’ Reception at Government House on 3rd September before flying out to India on Tuesday 7th October 2008. The officers of the local association are still seeking a sponsor to help off-set the cost of participating in these Games and Alan Cross, the Association’s Secretary General, would welcome hearing from local companies.
