The Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey is now able to make its second and probably final announcement of team members for the XVIIIth Commonwealth Games to be held in Melbourne next March. As reported in an earlier report the Association expects to enter competitors from seven of its member sports and is pleased to be able to release the names of selected players and officials from the sports of Badminton, Cycling, Shooting, and Swimming. Those representing the sports of Athletics, Lawn Bowls, and Triathlon were announced on 3 rd October 2005.

The public of Jersey are reminded that for a competitor to be selected to represent Jersey at the next Games, he/she has been required to meet very rigorous qualifying standards which have been agreed and approved by both the local Commonwealth Games Association and the governing bodies for those sports in Jersey.

Team members selected in this stage include:-

Badminton: Elizabeth Cann, Solenn Pasturel, Lucy Burns, Gavin Carter and Clive Dunford

with Carmen Cann as the Badminton Team Manager.

Cycling: Sam Firby with Tony Richomme as the Cycling Team Manager

Shooting: Full Bore: Richard Benest and David Le Quesne

with Cliff Mallett as Team Manager

Small Bore: Kevin De Gruchy, Steven Le Couilliard and David Turner

with Mo Le Mottee as Team Manager

Pistol: David Ward, Marcus Hill and Mike Quenault

with Bob Blake as Team Manager

Swimming: Simon Le Couilliard, Daniel Halksworth, Liam Du Feu and Alexis Militis

with Paul Du Feu as the Swimming Team Manager.

This now brings the total number of competitors representing Jersey at the Melbourne Games to 35 with a further 10 team managers. This is a significant increase in the team size from the last Games in Manchester in 2002 when Jersey entered 25 competitors supported by 8 team managers.
