The 47th Annual General Meeting of the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey took place at Highland's College last Thursday evening. There were 30 members present representing 11 of the Association's 14 affiliated sports. The 5 Officers were elected at the time of the Special General Meeting in January 2004 and they are now in post, in accordance with the Association's new constitution, until the 2007 AGM.

Without the need for elections, the main items on the Agenda were the Annual Reports from the Treasurer, Mr. Paul Huddlestone, and the Secretary, Mr. Alan Cross. Both reports received the unanimous support of all voting delegates.

The Secretary's Report highlighted a very active and successful year of meetings with the approval of radical changes to the Association's Constitution and its procedures for selecting Jersey competitors for future Commonwealth Games.

It was reported that the majority of member associations had now submitted their proposed standards for the nomination of their members for consideration for selection for the Melbourne 2006 Games and the Secretary informed the meeting that it was hoped that the final approval of all standards would be completed by the Association's Validation Group in early June 2004.

In a Council Meeting which preceded the AGM, Paul Huddlestone, the General Team Manager for both the 2004 Youth Games and the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games, gave a progress report with regard to preparations of the Jersey Team for the Youth Games which is to be hosted by Bendigo, Victoria, Australia at the end of November.
