The Jersey Annual General Meeting

The Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey held it’s Annual General Meeting last Thursday evening at the Concert Hall, Highland’s College. This meeting was a landmark in the history of the Association celebrating 50 years since it was founded by the late Ken Webb in 1957 prior to Jersey’s first entry to the Games scene with a team of 16 competitors representing the sports of lawn bowls, cycling, athletics boxing, weight lifting and swimming at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff.

This year’s AGM was well supported by 36 members representing 13 of the 14 affiliated member sports. The President, Martin Hebden; the Vice President, Mo Le Mottee; the Secretary General, Alan Cross; and the Treasurer, Paul Huddlestone were all re-elected for a second 4 year term of office which will include involvement with both the 2008 Pune Commonwealth Youth Games and the 2010 Delhi Games. Paul Huddlestone’s appointment as General Team Manager for these two events was also confirmed at the meeting.
Mrs Pat Henwood, having stepped down as the Association’s second Vice President, was replaced by Paul Du Feu who has had a wealth of experience with both previous Island Games and Commonwealth Games.
