Media Release - 30th January 2004The recently revised Constitution of the Commonwealth Games Association of Jersey kicked into action last night at a Special General Meeting with the appointment of its new Officers namely, Martin Hebden as President, Mrs. Pat Henwood and Mo Le Mottee as the two Vice Presidents, Alan Cross as Secretary and Paul Huddlestone as its Treasurer. These officers will now remain in post until the 2007 Annual General Meeting. At a Council Meeting, which followed on immediately from the Special General Meeting, delegates then appointed a Validation Group of five Council members who will be responsible for managing the selection process for Jersey competitors for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. This Group includes Paul Du Feu, Derek Ferguson, Graham Huelin, Gary Jones and Mrs. Eileen Vowden. The final piece to the selection process jigsaw was put in place with the election of an Appeals Panel which is an independent group of five to be called upon in the event of a dispute over any aspect of the process. Advocate Steven Meiklejohn was appointed as the Chairman with a committee including Brian Ahier, Mrs. Gail Boswell, Chris Cann and Paul Huddlestone. The Council then gave their approval for the early appointment of Mr. Paul Huddlestone as the General Team Manager for the Jersey Team's participation in the next Commonwealth Games which is to be held in Melbourne in March 2006. Paul Huddlestone is Honorary President to the Jersey Amateur Swimming Association and was the Attache for the Jersey Team at the 2002 Games in Manchester. His role also includes the management of a small team of local competitors for the Commonwealth Youth Games which will be hosted in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia at the end of next November.
