Commonwealth History
South West Counties Amateur Boxing Association set the entry standards for Jersey boxers to compete at a Games and traditionally a boxer has been required to reach the semi-final stage of the ABA Championships to be considered for selection.
Three local boxers have achieved this level and have represented Jersey at Commonwealth Games. They are-:
1962 The Perth Games - Albert Turmel of the Leonis ABC represented Jersey in the Welterweight Division (67kg) and won a Bronze Medal.
1986 The Edinburgh Games - John Sillitoe of Pisces ABC competed in the Bantamweight Division (54kg) and won a Bronze Medal
1998 The Kuala Lumpur Games - Lee Meager of Pisces ABC competed.
