Commonwealth Games 2010 Qualifying Standards

Standards to be achieved by members of BOWLS JERSEY (“The Association”)

The maximum number of players to be chosen for the Commonwealth Games will be 7 men and 7 women (or such other number that is the maximum allowed for Delhi 2010 by the Commonwealth Games Federation) and they will be chosen by the Association’s appropriate Selectors when required to do so in order to meet the Selection Timetable of the Commonwealth Games Committee of Jersey. Only players who have met the minimum requirements under these Standards will be considered. In deciding the team to be recommended to the Commonwealth Games Committee of Jersey the Association’s Selectors will consider the Standard(s) that the player has satisfied, the timing of achieving these and their current form and fitness. The selection of the squad and the positions in which they will play will be at the sole discretion of the Association’s Selectors in line with the selection of all teams representing Jersey. They may also select one male and one female reserve for validation by the Commonwealth Games Committee of Jersey Validation Group in case a replacement is required prior to the team’s departure and replacement is possible.

At least one of the objectives attached must be achieved in any discipline during the period June 2007 to July 2010 at events listed (which may be held on grass or any synthetic surface) for a player to be considered for Selection by the Association’s Selectors.

Having achieved the minimum Standard, players are expected to strive to increase the number Standards they have achieved and show commitment to maintaining a high standard of play.
