Qualifying Standards

Commonwealth Games 2010 Qualifying Standards

Competitors will be expected to have met the following separate and distinct criteria in the period between 1st January 2008 and the closing date for nominations which is expected to be in the Spring of 2010 (the Games are scheduled to be held from 3rd to 14th October 2010):

i) a Minimum Qualifying Score (MQS) as set out in the Table below, achieved at any of the events listed in Notes 1, 2 and 3(b) below, and
ii) a 6th place or better in any British National, Regional or Open Meeting as identified in Note 1, or 6th or 10th place or better in an International Meeting, as identified in Note 2, and
iii) have met the minimum level of participation requirements set out in Note 3..

Jersey Pistol Association Minimum Qualifying Scores:
(These are equivalent to 10th place in the 2006 Commonwealth Games)
(The highest, lowest, Finals cut off scores and number of competitors in each event in 2006 Commonwealth Games is also shown to aid understanding of standards required to be obtained)

Notes:

1. British National, Regional or Open Meetings :

Air Pistol Only: NSRA British Open Championships and any other events designated as British National Squad qualifiers by the International Committee of the NSRA (6th place or better, in overall competition)

All disciplines:
Northern Ireland International, Channel Islands Open Meeting, Jersey Open Meeting, Isle of Man Open Meeting and any others that may be approved by the International Committee (6th place or better, in overall competition).
Any other U.K. Open Regional or County Championships (6th place or better).
Any NSRA or NRA approved Open Championships (6th place or better).

2. International Meetings :
The Commonwealth Shooting Federation (European Division) Championships (Gibraltar 2008 and the 2009 Event, venue to be advised) (6th place or better).
The Commonwealth Shooting Federation World Championships (Delhi date to be advised) (10th place or better).
The following European Open Championships: Intershoot; Denhaag; Pilsen; Zurich International Match; Polar Grand Prix. (10th place or better).
Any foreign Regional, National or International Championship (10th place or better).
Any foreign Open Championship approved by the Selection Committee of the Association as being of an equivalent standard as any of the foregoing.

3. Level of Participation (during the qualifying period):
Minimum of six matches from 1 & 2 above, to include at least 4 matches outside of the Channel Islands, during the qualifying period, and
b) Minimum of 35% of J.P.A. Jersey Pistol Squad Training/Selection Matches in the relevant discipline during the qualifying period.

Notes:

Jersey Pistol Shooters are limited in the number of events they are able to enter following the handgun ban in the UK and accordingly, the costs of competing at oversees events is somewhat increased.
